Double standards

So just reminded by my dad how double standards are dangerous. My dad is the kind of person who says one thing and heads off in the other direction. As you might not know our Electricity supplier in Zimbabwe is very good and keeping people in the dark and thus i call it “The prince of darkness”. So yesterday like any other day electricity cut. I went to bed after trying to wait for it to come back. So because it was dark, there is no way we are going to look for the car keys and all the other keys lying about, its dark!

So my dad comes home, and has a fit about leaving the keys around the house. Of course we have an alarm which is always armed when we go to bed. My mom goes, “Aren’t you the one who always leave keys in the living room when you come home from the bar? Why don’t you stop going to the bar and stay home and make sure we get all the keys when we go to bed instead of complaining about something you do all the time.”

it is true, i have cleaned up after him a lot of times and he shouldn’t be one to act like a saint but such is people isn’t it :). Double standards are really dangerous because they prompt people to criticize you.

it is way better to have a bad reputation when you are good than a good reputation when you are bad because when the truth finally comes out, you will either be treated like you are lower than dirt or be applauded.

  1. LOL another one about your dad. So true how it is. You have spoken well on it. Loved your conclusion: “it is way better to have a bad reputation when you are good than a good reputation when you are bad because when the truth finally comes out, you will either be treated like you are lower than dirt or be applauded.”
